Choosing a proper electric forklift with matched lifting height for your warehouse racks is critical for stable daily operation, which avoids unnecessary operation risks and makes full use of your existing storage space. Many warehouse managers make mistakes in height parameter selection, leading to situations where the forklift cannot lift goods to the highest rack layer, or even collides with the top of the warehouse when lifting fully loaded pallets. The following steps can help you get the accurate required lifting height easily.

First step, measure the actual height of each rack layer first. You need to measure the vertical distance from the ground of your warehouse to the pallet support position of each layer, especially the highest layer that you need to access regularly. Do not only refer to the nominal parameter provided by the rack supplier, as the ground flatness, later installation error and pallet thickness will bring obvious deviation to the actual usable height, which will lead to mismatched parameter if you use the nominal data directly.

Second step, reserve reasonable extra allowance after you get the maximum height of the highest rack support layer. You need to add extra height for the pallet and the loaded goods on it, usually you need to reserve at least 150mm to 200mm extra allowance, to ensure that the forks can smoothly pass over the support beam of the rack and place the pallet stably on the designated position without scratching the rack structure or dropping the goods.
Third step, take the mast structure of the electric forklift into consideration. If your warehouse has height limit on the entrance of the aisle or the top clearance of the whole storage area, you also need to confirm the free lifting height of the forklift mast, to make sure the whole forklift can pass through low aisles smoothly even with loaded pallets, without hitting the roof of the warehouse. You can not only count the fork lifting height, but also take the whole height of the mast when it is not fully extended into account, to match your existing warehouse top clearance parameter.
After you finish all the above calculation steps, you can get the clear required maximum lifting height for your electric forklift.
